RSPH Announces New Qualifications In Pest Management, UK

August 10, 2017

Following extensive consultation with the pest control industry, RSPH is pleased to announce that the following qualifications have received their accreditation from Ofqual, the regulatory body for qualifications, and can now be offered by approved centres:

Level 2 Award in Pest Management

Level 2 Certificate in Pest Management

Level 3 Diploma in Pest Management

The RSPH has amended and developed its pest control qualification portfolio in response to changes in the government regulations regarding accredited qualifications. The Level 2 qualifications have been developed in partnership with the British Pest Control Association (BPCA) and are supported and endorsed by the National Pest Technicians Association (NPTA). In addition to BPCA and NPTA, RSPH involved major employers in the development of its pest control qualifications to ensure that they are fit for purpose and meet industry needs.

Following advice from the industry, RSPH have decided to use the term 'pest management' rather than 'pest control' as this is a better reflection of the role of today's industry.

Qualifications Development Manager, Dr Richard Burton, says 'We are very proud of our new qualifications and feel that from working closely with BPCA, NPTA and major employers, they have been developed with great relevance to the pest control industry and its practitioners.'

The Level 2 Award is designed to provide a good grounding in pest control for anyone involved in the field. The Level 2 Certificate has an additional two 'techniques' units, which would provide the necessary practical skills for new entrants into the profession to start to carry out pest management activities.
